How Lucky You Can Be

As a fan of the game of basketball, I enjoyed my time at Lipscomb University. In the late 90's, I was fortunate enough to watch some of the final years of Don Meyer's coaching before he left for Northern State University.

Coach Meyer became the winning-est collegiate basketball coach of all-time, but his last few years were influenced by a traumatic car accident. ESPN Senior Writer Buster Olney writes about the event and what took place afterward in his book, How Lucky You Can Be: The Story of Coach Don Meyer.

Olney focuses on the last few years of Meyer's coaching career but adds quite a bit of background from the Lipscomb years.  The dedication and passion that Olney describes of Meyer, is something that will have you laying down the book, hoping someone will yell and scream at you, challenging you to do better and live better.  How lucky we all would be to have been influenced in the same way as all of Meyer's former basketball players?

If you are a basketball fan, add this book to your list.

The Which Wich 51 Club

We joined some friends last night who are opening a Which Wich in Brentwood, TN. The sandwich shop opens today. You may have remembered a few years ago in Franklin, TN, there was a guy who ate all 51 sandwiches from Which Wich and the CEO flew in to witness the consumption of the final sandwich.

In honor of my friends opening up their new store, I'm setting off to make an official run at eating my way into the "51 club" from the Brentwood Which Wich. I am giving myself one year to complete it, averaging one per week.

Wish me luck.
