If I enter a room that is already illuminated, any additional light I add has little value unless I focus on the shadows. That same light, no matter how big or how small, in a room full of darkness makes all the difference. Yes, there's still shadows, but now what lives in the shadows has a choice whether to stay in the shadows or experience the light.
Darkness now becomes a choice.
