Talk the walk

We often measure people by whether they can walk the talk. We want people to prove they live what they preach.  That means we are measured the same way.  Talk is cheap, unless...

I wonder if it should be the other way around. What if we talked the walk instead? Would we do a lot less talking because we don't want to expose our failures? Would we come off as less hypocrytical? Would that inspire us to increase our character in order to have grounds to say more? Would there be a lot less talking and more doing?
Proverbs 17:28 - Even a fool who keeps silent is considered wise; when he closes his lips, he is deemed intelligent.
Proverbs 19:1 - Better is a poor person who walks in his integrity than one who is crooked in speech and is a fool.

Relevance of Theology

When people learn about my college degree and try to connect it to what I am doing now, I can see them trying to draw mental connections from a Bible degree to a marketing field. Even for me, it was a struggle at first. Over time, I've been convinced of its relevance. N.T. Wright shares a story that has helped put in words what I mean.
"I once had a student, studying theology, who spent his whole summer vacation working in a sub-Saharan African country. When he came back, the head of the college asked him what he wanted to do when he graduated. He replied that he was hoping to work in international development, bring help and wisdom to the poorest parts of the globe. The head of the college at once asked him why, in that case, he was studying theology rather than politics and/or economics.

The student didn't miss a beat. 'Because theology is much more relevant,' he replied."

We all practice theology in some form. Unfortunately, it's not intentional for many.

Pursuit of knowledge

I believe God intends for us to use all of our heart, MIND, soul, and strength. But when it comes to science, at what point do we continue our desire of the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil rather than live in faith through the The Tree of Life?
