Cool Cafe in Franklin

I really like "meat & 3" restaurants. I also, especially like food that is budget friendly. Franklin, Tennessee doesn't usually provide that kind of combo, but the best one I've come across is the Cool Cafe on the corner Hillsboro Road and Mack Hatcher. It's a little place that has been tucked away in a strip mall for the last four and half years, and I have managed to completely overlook it.

The other night a neighbor was telling me that he just finished dinner there. So, the next day when me an two others from work were deciding on lunch and I mentioned it. None of us had ever been, so we decided to go.

When we walked in the servers behind the counter were great! We told them it was our first time, and they walked us through what they do and how they do it. I had some fried chicken, mac & cheese, turnip greens, fried okra, banana pudding, & sweet tea to wash it all down. I left happily miserable from being so full.

However, the food was only half the experience. Several times, when the staff was free, walked around to ask us how everything was. You could tell that all of them took pride in the restaurant. I left feeling like I had made 3 new friends.

Put good service with good food (not to mention a lot of each) price is less likely to cause friction.
