There's a lot to talk about but rather than talking about it, I decided to list the questions I think people will be talking about. Feel free to comment on any of them.
- Janice Dickinson said his baptism would not count since Stephen was not an ordained minister. Is that a problem for you?
- Are your sins forgiven if you mock baptism? Was Spencer mocking Stephen? Was Spencer saved then and there?
- Did Stephen follow the 5 steps of salvation when teaching Specner: Hear, Believe, Repent, Confess, and THEN get baptized? (Only you CofCs will get this one)
- Was the "liberal machine" NBC mocking Christianity or was the Holy Spirit with Stephen and using this scene to take back America's Christian values? Is NBC repenting?
- Does this scene support the argument that churches should stop building baptistery's since the ROI isn't really worth it? It seems that most people get baptized outside in the summer at church camp or on a mission trip like in Costa Rica, right?

My husband was flipping thru the channels and stopped in the midst of that baptism, so I didn't see what had happened before it took place. To answer some of your questions:
ReplyDelete1. No, I don't think you have to be an ordained minister to baptize someone.
4. I think Baldwin is a loose cannon and NBC puts him on reality shows because they know something off-the-wall will happen.
5. HA! Well, as a matter of fact, I did get baptized on a mission trip in Puerto Rico! Our church doesn't have a baptistry - people have been baptized in the rec center pool or outside in a kiddie pool.
(first timer here - I stopped over from Phyllis Renee's place)
Thanks for stopping by Cocotte! You are probably right about #4.
