Next Blog>> in English please

Image representing Blogger as depicted in Crun...Image via CrunchBaseIf you use Blogger, or read blogs hosted by Blogger, you may have noticed in the Navigation bar at the top of the page a link that says "Next Blog>>". Have you tried it?

Only 10% of the time do I ever see a blog in English. Does this happen to you?

I'd like to see Google present me with two options:
  1. Only show me blogs in languages I choose.
  2. Provide a Babble Fish or translation link if the blog looks interesting enough to read.
What do you think?

Memories of Bible Quizzes

New King James VersionImage via WikipediaGrowing up, our congregation participated in what we called "Bible Quiz". They took place once a month on a Friday night where congregations rotated in hosting the event. There were 3 divisions; Junior, Junior High & Senior High. Everyone studied the same 3 chapters of the New Testament (excluding the Gospels & Revelation) for that month and it had to be from the King James Version. Then each team/congregation was given 5 minutes to take a written quiz consisting of about 30 questions and it was open book.

Last night, for some reason, I recalled a lot of memories from these Bible Quizzes and I realized I was still bitter about being forced to participate in these events. Often I had to give up Sunday afternoons to go "study" with the other kids. Then I had to give up Friday nights doing other things with my school friends. I realize the event was really more for the adults than anyone else. While each division was taking their tests, everyone else would spend time singing together.

Beyond being forced to do this, the older I got the more I felt it was a bad idea to make your knowledge of the Bible the basis for competition, especially with kids. Now I am wondering if I am using this argument to justify my aversion with this event as a child.

Funky Fresh Senior Choir

Lessons you might learn from the video below might include:
  1. Don't try being something you are not.
  2. You can't teach an old dog new tricks.
  3. Sister Act was a movie and not real life.

It's like these people were told they weren't going to get their medicine unless they did this...

The Christmas Sweater goes on sale today

You may remember a post I did a while back on Glenn Beck's latest book, The Christmas Sweater. If not, check it out. The book goes on sale today.

Although I have not read many "Christmas Story" books, I thought this particular one was good. It will put you in the right kind of mindset and mood for Christmas this year. It is very timely, considering the current state of our economy.

The Matrix runs on Windows

I really liked the Matrix movies when they came out. So, that's why the following video caught my eye. I think it's pretty well done, and it made me laugh.
