Groundswell

It's been awhile since I've posted a book. I've been reading lots of articles, dictionaries, and commentary's as of late. However, our team at work has embarked on a new crusade to read 1 book a month together. Our first book is Groundswell by Charlene Li and Josh Bernoff from Forrester Research.

Groundswell is defined as
  1. a broad, deep swell or rolling of the sea, due to a distant storm or gale.
  2. any surge of support, approval, or enthusiasm, esp. among the general public: a groundswell of political support for the governor.
The book is all about definition #2 when it comes to the social web. The book breaks down users into categories based on how they interact with the internet. Then the authors discuss how company's should leverage, react, or plan around people who are negatively or positively talking about their brand online.

Because the social web has completely changed the rules with traditional marketing and word of mouth, this book is a good read for those businesses who are interested in diving into things like blogs, Facebook, and more.
