Thanksgiving 2008

I don't see myself blogging over the next several days, so I decided to make my Thanksgiving post today.

The other day I was listening to Peter Greenberg's radio show. In an interview he did with a guest, she mistakenly referred to Thanksgiving as "Thanks-give-me". I could tell it was an accident, but nonetheless, it made me think that our culture often feels that way. Secretly, we think "when is someone going to thank me?"

Perhaps we're entitled to feel that way sometimes, but it's important to stop and realize that we don't get to where we are on our own. Being thankful everyday is important, but it's nice when the country decides to be thankful all at the same time.

Now, I know many times when people list things they are thankful for, it doesn't mean as much to others who are reading or listening. That's all right. What does matter is the fact that you take the time to acknowledge what you are thankful for. So, what am I thankful for this year?
  • Another day.
  • A great job.
  • A healthy little girl who's on her way.
  • A healthy little boy who is full of energy.
  • A beautiful wife who is now free to be nothing else, but a mother and wife.
  • A God who listens.
