Yes, I have a scooter, go ahead and laugh

I have had my scooter for 2 years now and my wife has had hers for about a year and a half. I am starting to kick myself now for not opening up a scooter store in Franklin, because they are going to be the next BIG thing to drive. Gas has gotten out of hand.

I know I may look funny at 6"2 and 230 lbs. People may laugh at me all the way to the gas pump, but trust me, I am laughing at them all the way to the bank. Insurance is dirt cheap and I get over 80 miles a gallon. My wife does better since she is smaller.

The blue one is a 2006 Vino 125 by Yamaha, and the red one is a 2005. They are as good as a Vespa, and cheaper too! I saw a piece on WKRN last night about a new scooter store in Nashville. I can't wait to see these all over town. I have already started seeing more of them now. These things are a blast. they get to 55mph, but they are lighter and better suited for city life. There is no need to buy a huge bike that's loud, goes fast, and comes with a huge insurance premium. Get one.

I knew you were way ahead of your time long ago..you were the first person I thought of when I saw the news last night. And yes, you should have looked in to opening the store!

I've been wanting a scooter for a while now. My wife and friends think they're ridiculous, but I think that they're awesome.

I'll have to look into your models.

Posted on NiT as well

Not all scooters are created equal. I ride a Suzuki Burgman 650 and it accommodates my 6'0" 225 pound frame just fine and has enough power where acceleration (or lack thereof) is never a concern. Of course It's only 50 or so MPG. If economy were I greater concern I would've opted for the Burgman 400 which gets around 65 MPG.

If anyone is interested, Burgman USA is group of Burgman enthusiasts that will be happy to answer any questions you might have. Oh and one of the moderators, Bill Meek from Summertown, TN. He rides a Burgman 400 with his dog in tow :)

I've thought about it. But it would double my commute time with no access to the interstate. But I'm still thinking about.

If Tim M bought a scooter, he'd be 20 minutes late to work instead of just 10!

Congrats!

Gonna add you to a new category on my blog, "Local Scooter Monkeys." We have to stick together (but let's not get people too excited until I get my good deal on a nice, used 250cc+ scooter).

Yes, in your previous life as a YM, I was one of the parents who tortured you...need I say more???

That narrows it down. Band is not a sport and while Bob was a fan of athletic shorts (even in winter) he was not a woman. So who was left to "torture" me as a YM? I think I got it now...thanks for the comments.

No laughing here. I have a 2005 Honda Metro....so you can laugh at me. It goes 40 MPH tops, but it gets 90+ MPG.
